To hear Charles Dickens’ timeless classic, A Christmas Carol, in his own words, is to experience the story for the first time.  To hear it told in Jennifer Munro’s dramatic and thoroughly English interpretation, is to experience it as Dickens’ himself intended: with just the power of the human voice to bring his irresistible cast of characters, Scrooge, Marley’s Ghost, the Fezziwigs, the Cratchits, and the rascals in the “low browed beetling shop”, to vibrant and authentic life.
However, Dickens’ real genius is that the moments of heartbreak and poignancy are made bearable by scenes of hilarity and dry British humor.  Above all, this memorable story reminds us that generosity toward those less fortunate than ourselves lies at the very heart of personal happiness – and isn’t that what the Christmas season is all about?

What People are Saying!

I'd only previously seen "cartoon" versions of "A Christmas Carol"...flouncy costumes with music. Jennifer Munro's captivating storytelling of the tale was a revelation and transformed my experience. For the first time, I really got the richness of the language, the subtle quality of the humor and the depth that comes from my own imagination, inspired by her dazzling performance. A most memorable evening.

A Christmas Carol was a bit of a drag in high school. I didn’t understand why people were so excited about it. Jennifer’s performance made it accessible and entertaining, and I gained a whole new appreciation for the story.

I wanted to say again how much pleasure my husband and I received from your performance of A Christmas Carol last Saturday. It is one of my all-time favorite stories.  I have watched many different filmed versions, listened to several audio versions (including a radio play), and attended a handful of stage productions.  I re-read the story every year. Your interpretation of the story and the characters was spot on!  I am in awe of how fast you were able to “put on and take off” Scrooge and the others.  I never had any doubt as to who was speaking.  And the charwoman was magnificent!  She was possibly the best part of an evening filled with nothing but best parts!  Your love of the tale shines through at every moment.

Thank you again for a wonderful Christmas evening,
